For safety, each dog must arrive
on a leash. All parents must sign the
attendance book each morning. No dog will be
released to anyone other than his or her
parents. If, for any reason, you wish someone
else to pick up your dog, you must notify the
Administrator. The person picking up your dog
will be required to show a picture ID. Anyone
picking up a dog must sign the attendance book
each evening. |
 |
No dog shall ever be left alone
or unsupervised. |
 |
Exit plans are posted in each
area in the event of fire or emergency weather
alerts. The facility is equipped with an
emergency weather radio. |
 |
First Aid kits are located near
the front and rear entrances of the building.
The Administrator and caregivers are trained in
Red Cross Pet First Aid. |
 |
Use of aerosol sprays are
prohibited when dogs are in attendance. In
addition, Dog Day, Every Day! is a no smoking
facility. |
 |
Any bump, bruise, scratch, etc.
that occurs which does not require First Aid
will be documented on a “Boo Boo Report”. The
reports are posted on the parent board. The
following procedure will be followed in the
event of serious injury or illness:
|
1. |
The parents will be
called immediately. |
|
2. |
If the parents are
unavailable, the emergency contact
will be notified. |
|
3. |
If necessary,
transportation will be provided to
your veterinarian, unless your
veterinarian advises us to transport
to nearest animal hospital (payment
arrangements are the sole
responsibility of the parent). |
|
 |
The goal of Dog Day, Every Day!
is to create a positive atmosphere by rewarding
positive behavior. In the event of misconduct,
physical punishment shall never be accepted. We
will use assertive discipline, which involves a
firm expression of disapproval. If behavior does
not improve, caregivers will occasionally use a
squirt bottle, with water, along with time-out.
These procedures help teach the dogs to obey the
rules that protect their own health and safety.
If there is a severe problem with an individual,
he or she may be asked to leave for the welfare
of the other dogs. |
 |
You may bring a meal for your
dog, if necessary. Please be sure to inform
caregivers of approximate time to serve the
meal. |
 |
Under no circumstances will Dog
Day, Every Day! accept an ill dog. All
caregivers are trained in the proper methods of
hand washing and disinfecting an area after
use. We monitor dogs and their behavior
throughout the day for signs of illness. If
your dog becomes ill, you will be contacted for
immediate pick up. |
 |
Because we are concerned with the
health and safety of all of the dogs, it is
important that you notify us immediately of all
contagious diseases your dog contracts. |
 |
When a medication is to be
administered by a caregiver, a completed
“Request for the Administration of Medication”
form must accompany it. |
 |
It is the policy of Dog Day,
Every Day! to incorporate as much outdoor time
as possible into our program. |
 |
Please send in writing any
changes of work or home addresses and phone
numbers as soon as they occur. It is also
imperative that your veterinarian information is
kept up to date. |
